Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

Holy Moly Hell on earth! You know, I 100% expected to like this book somewhat. I feel like one of those weird readers who like other readers non-favorite books and dislike the favorite books among many. I was really just highly disappointed with this book. It may have just been me, it most likely was too, but this book felt unreadable to me.

I could not for the life of me get what was going on half the time, really understood what was going on and I think one reason is this book was moving really slow. The only part of the storyline which I really understood anything would probably be the "John Matthew Possy!"

I have dropped Black Dagger Brotherhood books before, but I had always decided to re-read or try again and Victory! I end up liking it, but I definitely do not see that happening with this one. All I can say is, I guess you just can't like them all! But seriously now, John Matthew's book better impress me!

  1. LOL! Can't like them all. If I recall right, I had some trouble with this one as well, but I was on a BDB spree so it just went with the others.

I do miss the energy and mood of the earlier books. :(

  4. I stopped after this. I really had to force myself to finish this and I liked Rhevenge so much before his book. He had so much potential, but then JR Ward had to make all her characters turn into a self-pity party especially John Mathew, so I'm done. No longer care about this series. Z and Bella are still one of my favorite romance couples ever though and I will still go back to reread their book.

  5. I gotta agree, the best thing about this book was JM, Blay & Qhuinn. Plus, i wasnt really a fan of Ehlena once she freaked about the whole symphath thing -__-

  6. Good for you! I wish I good, but I wanna really see how Blay & Qhuinn's story turns out. That's the only reason I'm moving forward. I'm skipping the non-sense side storylines though. But after Love at Last, I may just call it quits.

  7. JM, Blay & Qhuinn has been the only good thing about the entire series after Z's book. We didn't get a lot of them before his book and those books were pretty good, but after Z's book, a lot of the other books were crap and JM & Qhuay is what kept me going! After I get to Lover at Last I may not even continue with it. I'm just here to get to Qhuay's book! Hehehe! =)
