Review: Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole

Title:  Shadow's Claim
Author:  Kresley Cole
Series:  The Dacians, #1
Publisher:  Pocket Books
Release Date:  November 27, 2012
Pages:  481
Rating:

Shadow's Claim features Prince Trehan, a ruthless master assassin who will do anything to possess Bettina, his beautiful sorceress mate, even compete for her hand in a blood-sport tournament—to the death.

He won't be denied...

Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people, striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself—until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore's most fearsome villains.

She's bound to another...

Desperate to earn her guardians' approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she's lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.

A battle for her body and soul...

Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina's heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium's worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away—or stoke Bettina's own desires to a fever-pitch...

Between gritted teeth, he said, “I am Prince Trehan Cristian Daciano. And you are my woman.” Pinning her arms above her head, he vowed, “After tonight, little Bride, you will never mistake me for another again. . . .”

SHADOW'S CLAIM was one of those books I have been so excited about! All I could think about was that this is going to be awesome! And 100% of the time Kresley Coles books are fucking amazing! But I didn't take into account that the heroine would screw over this book!

"Words tumbled from her lips: “What would you do if I died? If I was . . . murdered?” His brows drew together. “I don’t want to speak of that.” “You said you’d answer any question.” His hand squeezed hers. “Avenge you.” He pinned her gaze with his own. “Follow you.”

I loved the storyline and the settings as well as the characters, well some of them! The heroine, Bettina really just ruined the book for me though. Every now and then I'll read a book and get a annoying heroine that I could have lived without. And I think the heroine wouldn't have been that bad if there wasn't a love triange involved here. I for one love them in Young Adult books and even urban fantasy, or any other genre, except Romance novels.

He took her hand, smoothly returning her panties. “One day you’ll convince me that you’ll always want him.” Just before he traced away, he murmured in her ear, “Take care, lest you lose a male who’ll desire only you—and gain a male who’ll desire only others.”

And my reason for that is, because this is suppose to be a romance book and that is what I expect and I guess it could work if it was done differently or something, but I didn't like it. I felt bad for the hero, Prince Trehan a lot of the time. And Bettina talked about Cas, the one she is in love with so many times, it made me want to gag! She was freaking obsessed with him! And so many of her actions and what came out of her mouth. The ending was the worse part for me. I seriously wanted her to end up alone. BUt this is a romance so of course that wouldn't happen.

“But I love Cas.” “Know that I’m rolling my eyes right now.” At her glower, he said, “Of course you love him! In a certain way. You were two orphans that hit it off and bonded. He was your only friend in this entire kingdom. Pair that uncommon tie wiv his uncommon good looks, and any female’s judgment would get cloudy. Trust me on this—I used to leave chits addlepated whenever I walked by.”

SHADOW'S CLAIM started out amazing, but the more I read, the more I got disappointed and I felt it could have gone a different way if the love triangle situation wasn't there. I most likely would have liked it more. But on a side note, I did enjoy it, every thing else was absolutely amazing! But I seriously hope Kresley Cole will do no more situations where the heroine thinks she is in love with anyone other than her mate. But I am looking forward to the next book in this wonderful spin off series!

Review: Double Time by Olivia Cunning

Title:  Double Time
Author:  Olivia Cunning
Series:  Sinners on Tour, #5
Publisher:  Sourcebooks Casablanca
Release Date:  November 6, 2012
Pages:  384
Rating:

Olivia Cunning delivers the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a wicked sense of humor in this menage story featuring the hottest guy in the Sinners band.

Trey Mills, the notoriously sexy Sinners rhythm guitarist, gives up his bisexual lifestyle and is swept into a hot, heady romance with Reagan Elliot, a female rock star sensation. But when Trey encounters Reagan's sexy bisexual roommate, Ethan Conner, he can no longer deny who he is or what he wants. Reagan heartily agrees to a solution that opens up a hot new world of sexual experience--and love--with the two men she wants the most.

Trey’s mouth went dry. She opened her eyes and grinned devilishly. “Can you tell me where the bathroom is?” He had no idea what a bathroom was at that moment. Did she really expect him to form a coherent response?

DOUBLE TIME was absolutely AMAZING! I just couldn't get enough of this book and as soon as I recieved it, I DEVOURED IT! Olivia Cunning is an amazing erotica romance author and she definitely has a for life fan right here! I have been in love with Trey since book 1 and Trey being in love with his best friend, Brian only increased my love for him! For some reason I have this big heart for characters like him! And from day 1 I have wanted Trey to get his happily every after, I have been craving for it! Trey is both into men and women. He has been pinning for Brian and it seems kind of hopeless now since Brian is happily married and has a baby. So it is time to forget about Brian.

“Yeah, I never thought Brian would ever be able to push it out through such a little hole. It was fuckin’ brutal.” She laughed and splashed water at him. “You know what I mean.

Reagan, our lovely and bad ass heroine, has auditioned for the band Exodus End to be the new rhythm guitarist and things go extremely well for her! She meets Dare and Trey Mills and things hit off well. She gets invited to tour with The SInners to get used to the Rockstar Life before she gets started with Exodus End. And another very important character is Ethan, Regan's roomate. Ethan and Reagan were a thing, but she caught him cheating on her with a man! So, ummmm.. he's bisexual, like Trey. Though Trey isn't letting Reagan know that he's into guys. Ethan still has feelings for Reagan and is very protective of her and becomes her bodyguard on tour.

“Why would you embarrass yourself?” “Because I’m about to be trapped on a jet for more than two hours with the Brian Sinclair.” “Last night you got laid by the Trey Mills.”

I absolutely adored Trey's and Reagan's relationship! Reagan was absolutely PERFECT for Trey! If I had to picture him with a girl, Reagan is that girl! She is fun and wild and just WOW! She is fun and exciting, but she is afraid of getting her heart broken. Trey loves Reagan, he really does, but he needs a man! It's like him pretending to be someone he can't be, but at the same time he wants to be with her. But Ethan is totally seducing Trey. Things eventually do work out.

“So you’re a virgin?” Trey asked, his predatory side making his heart thud with thoughts of the hunt. Trey wanted Ethan in every capacity and if he could be the first to take him, it increased his interest even further. He loved cherries. “And I’m going to stay that way.” For now, Trey thought.

I loved Ethan and Reagan! They were both amazing! But while reading it and finishing it, in my mind I wanted him with just one person. I am okay with him ending up with both of them though! The sex was hot, of course! I mean how can it not be? I think I enjoyed the M/M sex more though! Two men getting it on is just HOT! No questions asked! It's FREAKING HOT! The M/F/M was HOT too and I enjoyed that as well! I think DOUBLE TIME got me really addicted to wanting to read lots and lots of M/M books! I'm drooling already! I'm looking forward to reading the two remaining books and Oh, yea! Please let Olivia Cunning writes books about Exodus End! I need more hot rockstar sexyiness!

Then a chance meeting and tortuously close quarters lead to uncontrollable flares of passion and rediscovery of their unique penchant for public encounters. Now, in addition to the risk of mutual heartbreak every time they get together, they’re in danger of truly scandalous public exposure...

Oh, no! Dear, god no! I absolutely freaking adored Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning. I had devoured that book and in no way would I doubt the next one would be just as awesome, but just as many of the reviews said, it was a nightmare. I was totally not expecting it either. I won't say the whole book was a total nightmare though, because Olivia Cunning is an amazing erotica romance writer and I did enjoy some of ROCK HARD to some degree.

What my nightmare consisted of was that the heroine was a complete a drama queen and total bitch. Sed had a true love before Brian's book and stuff happened. Let's just say there was an engagement and they were to be married. They meet again and sparks fly between them. Both still hold feelings for each other.

I just can't like a book where I cannot stand the heroine or hero. This case it's the heroine. She has the bitchy attitude towards Sed and it's like everything has to be her way. And she get upset at the dumbest things. I'm not going to go over every little thing, because I could probably write a book on how horrible her pissy little attitude was, but I don't like heroines that are bitches. I rarely happen upon them.

I just wish Sed could've had a different heroine. A heroine that could've appreciated him more and thought of more than just herself. Sed really deserved much better. It's too bad that his book was totally ruined for me, but I"m over it and I'm moving on! There were still moments in ROCK HARD, you know moments you love to read about, but my hate for Jessica overpowered everything. I just couldn't like this installment of Sinners on Tour as much as the first, but I still have hope for the rest of them, of course!

Review: Reflected in You by Sylvia Day

Title:  Reflected in You
Author:  Sylvia Day
Series:  Crossfire, #2
Publisher:  Berkley
Release Date:  October 23, 2012
Pages:  338

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.

We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...

His teeth sank into my lower lip with enough force to hurt.“You think you can say a few words and end us? Th ere is no end, Eva.”

REFLECTED IN YOU was absolutely and utterly molded into PERFECTION! Crossfire will forever be an absolute favorite erotica romance series of mine! I just cannot get enough of Gideon and Eva! They blow me away each and every time! I tried to hold off reading this a lot, because I wanted it to last, and that didn't work out so well for me! I just keep devouring these books!

“Baby girl,” he drawled. “I want to sympathize, I do, but the love triangle thing is just too delicious. The determined rock star and the possessive billionaire. Rawr. ”

REFLECTED IN YOU does pick up right after Bared to You. Eva and Gideon are working hard on their relationship because they desperately want it to work and they know it is just impossible for them to live without each other. REFLECTED IN YOU was very emotionally draining. These two face problems with jealously, trust issues, possessiveness and the combination of the three are tearing them apart!

I couldn't imagine that I'd ever fall in love again like I had with Gideon. For better or worse, he was my soul mate. The other half of me. In many ways, he was my reflection.

Eva wants to know about Gideon's past. She makes no secret of wanting to know as do all of us. And it's at a point where she just has to know. I think it's more that she wants him to trust her with him telling her and Eva also gets a lot of insecurities in REFLECTED IN YOU, especially with Ms. Corinne Giroux. Eva really freaks out in this book and it really makes me mourn for her, but I am proud of her by the time the end of the novel nears. She has made huge improvements with her relationship with Gideon,

“Angel.” His lips brushed over my shoulder blade, his hands releasing my wrists to slide beneath me and cup my full, heavy breasts. “My stubborn, beautiful angel. Finally, we get to the truth.”

Oh, man. Gideon. I must say from the beginning until the end of REFLECTED IN YOU I had huge feelings of disappointment for Gideon. By the end of the novel, you get the reasons and it all comes down to Gideon protecting Eva and it makes my heart burn for him and pray by the end of this he gets the happy ending he deserves, but in the middle I was very disappointed with him. With the crazy possessiveness, and being cold, and knowing all these secrets he is keeping from Eva is hurting her and not telling her anything. Yes! A lot of this bothered me, but like I said, by the end, you tell yourself, "how could I have ever had thoughts of disappointment for my Gideon?"

I’m still going to go crazy until you get home. If that means you’re driven a little crazy with my safety pre-cautions, isn’t that part of the give-and-take?” I growled. “How do you make something unreasonable sound reasonable?” “It’s a gift.”

REFLECTED IN YOU was freaking crazy with the relationship drama and wow! By the end of this book, Eva and Gideon are really more trusting of each other and seem much happier because of the trust and the silly insecurities are now gone and the possessiveness? Ha! That will never be gone! They wanna possess the hell out of each other! The ending is jaw dropping and totally had one of those OMFG moments attached to it! PURE LOVE! I am really looking forward to the third book in this amazing erotica romance series, Entwined with You, which thankfully will be out this December!
