Day 13: Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

It's Day 13 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, now I get to share with you My Blogger Horror Story!

Day 13: Share a Blogger Horror Story

For me, my horror story is along the lines of the Blogger and Reader Bullying. I"ve had it happen 2 or 3 times in my blogging life and it is not pretty.

Example 1

I had posted a review of a popular book among many and I did not like it. I did not trash the book, I simply stated what I did not like and what was not working. And I get this comment that I must be crazy and that I'm stupid for not liking the book. And that I shouldn't even be reviewing books, because I suck at it.

Excuse me, What happened to Freedom of Speech? My right to voice my opinion about a book. I have that right. In reviewing books, we swear to be honest in our reviews and I did just that and I didn't even trash the book, simply stated what I did not like.

Example 2

This happened on Goodreads. There are some people on Goodreads that are so sensitive and think anything you say is you bullying them or in Goodreads term, a troll.

Basically what happened is I left a comment on one of my friends reviews to add to conversation about YA books and UF/PNR author thing and this other person reply's to my comment and I notice in her comment the way it was worded suggests that she did not read my above comment so I comment that and she out of nowhere attacks me and says I'm being aggressive and attacking her, when I was just simply pointing out that she missed part of my comment. And actually if it was anyone else they would say, "oh, okay. sorry. I didn't see that part."

But she took it like I was trying to criticize her and attack her when I didn't do anything. I'm aloud to point out that she missed part of my comment. She made such a big thing out of nothing. She tells me to grow up being I was trying to explain that she is way out of line when I never attacked her. She's the one who needs to grow up. What makes it bad is that it was on a friend's review. Not mine or hers.

I swear I get these types of people every now and then. Thankfully not a lot, but it upsets me that people are like this and cannot be civil to one another. Sometimes I think some of these people on her like to pick fights. Jeez.

Day 12: Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

It's Day 12 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, now I get to share with you How I plan on getting more followers.

Day 12: How do I plan on getting
more followers this year.

For me, really looking, I have a pretty decent amount of followers. My one problem is I rarely get comments on my posts nowadays. I think that is really my fault too. Mainly because I was absent the majority of 2013, so I think many think I Just dropped my blog like many others did last year.

So, my goal here is to really try to revive it. I think networking plays a much role in this, so I wanna network more and visit others blogs and comment on their blog too. Get back to hosting giveaways, participating in events, just being more social and out there!

Day 11: Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

It's Day 11 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, now I get to share with you How many books are on my TBR shelf. Hmmmm...no idea. About to find out though.

Day 11: TBR Shelf: How Many?

How many books on my TBR Shelf you say? I have no freaking clue. On Goodreads, My To read shelf is categorized into different Categories. To-Read, which is books in a series I hand't started that I really wanna read. Might-Read, books that I kinda, but may not read. Reading-Next, books part of a series I have not finished yet. Short-To-Be-Read, short novellas/books under 200 pages and finally To-Be-Released, that shelf pretty much explains itself.

What do I count as my actual TBR List? My actual TBR List is all the books on my Reading-Next, To-Read & To-Be-Released. Right now I have 259 books all together on those shelf that are divided up, even the Might-Reads & Short-To-Be-Read shelf. For the ones I count as my actual TBR List, It's about 125 books that are that actual list! I gotta say that's not quite a bad number.

TBR Shelf = 125 books

Day 8: Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

It's Day 8 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, now I get to share with you Favorite Blogger Moment. These are not from 2013, but as a whole, b/c I was very absent in 2013.

Day 8: Your Favorite Blogger Moment

I would have to say since I've been blogging, I love all of the chances to meet some of my besties through the blogging community and also through Goodreads.

And just chat it up on Twitter about the funniest and crazy book related stuff. I seriously need to meet some of these awesome cookies in real life or something! Why can't we live closer! Damn! and able to even meet authors in real life too!

I swear it is the most exciting thing in the world to meet authors who wrote some of your all time favorite books, have them sign your book, and be able to take pictures with them! I loved it!

Day 7: Book Blogging New Year's Challenge

It's Day 7 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, now I get to share with you all my Top 10 Book Blogger Pet Peeves. And let me tell you, it was hard to get to 10.

Day 7: Top 10 Book Blogger Pet Peeves

1. Comment Spam or Captcha

I hate comment spam. I don't get that much, but I still get spam every now and then on my old reviews. And don't get me started about Captcha. I despise it. I most likely won't comment on your blog if you have it.

2. Multiple Review Requests

I clearly state on my review request what genres I accept and which I don't. I do not accept self published work, they send requests anyways. And I got so fed up with the emails I stated I'm not accepting requests anymore, yet they keep on coming.

3. Follow Me request

I don't like getting someone comment on one of my reviews to follow there blog and say nothing about my review. That is basically just becomes spam. It's just so rude in my opinion.

4. Someone requests they have your ARC

Ocassionally on Goodreads I will get a message about it being cool I have an early copy of a favorite book and they request that they have it after I finish it. No, just no, Rude again. I get these in exchange for honest, well thought out reviews, not OMFG. it was awesome sentences on my review.

5. Someone requests you spill all the spoilers

So I have an ARC, and I finish, up pops an message on Goodreads and they request that they give me all the spoilers in the book. This really pissed me off the first time it happened. I'm not going to disrespect the author and the publisher that way for choosing me to review the book.

6. Someone bashes you and your review

So basically a crazy insane fangirl bashes you and your review because they loved the book and you didn't. They even went to state that I should not review anymore because I suck at it because I didn't like this one book and I must be crazy not to.

7. Too much crap on your blog

Sometimes I will visit a blog and they just have too much going on. There sidebar is jam-packed and they have some crazy font you can't read and the colors are colors that just should never be mixed together like ever.

8. Promo tweets/Message/Requests

I don't get that many author promotional tweets, you know, advertising there book, but on Goodreads I will have an author just friend me to read there book and promote it, they actually say that's the reason they are friending you. I make it a habit not to friend authors on Goodreads for that reason.

9. Meme posts

I think participating in memes are good for you first year of blogging, like I know I did like 4 or them I think, but after you get a little more known in the blogging community I think it's time to cut those 4 into 1 or 2 memes a week and add more of your own stuff/content. I like a creative blog design and content wise.

10. Generic comments

Please actually read my posts. I don't get this a lot now, but sometimes I will get just a, "Hey, Nice post or Great Choice" or something like that and then they leave a link to their blog. Put some actual effort into your comment to say something more thought out about the post or don't post at all.

Day 6: Best Book of 2013

So, In 2013 I recently discovered the great, Kristen Ashley. Thank god. Read her! You'll be in love! Anyways, last year I fell in loved with her two books that converted me, The Gamble and The Golden Dynasty.

I have to give those a mention, because those were my all time favorite books that I read in 2013, but they weren't released in 2013. Without further ado, My FAVORITE BOOK OF 2013 IS:

Jagged by Kristen Ashley !!!

Day 5: Book Blogger New Year's Challenge

It's Day 5 of Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge. So, Worst book of 2013. Hmmm... Let's see, I have no idea. I'll have to think about that one.

Day 5: Worst book of 2013

This was really hard to narrow down, since I did not read many books released in 2013, more book not released in 2013. Sucks! But the one I would count as the WORST BOOK OF 2013 is: SWEET PERIL!

Day 1: Book Blogger New Year’s Challenge

Happy New Year! So, I basically saw Parajunkee’s New Year Challenge earlier today and I wanted to take part in it!

Day 1: My Blogger Resolutions

1. More Activity

I have been a little absent on my blog lately. More like in the last year. I think things have just gotten a little crazy and I have been posting like every couple of weeks or once a month or something. I would like to get back to actively posting. And commenting is another big one! I want to comment more!

2. Networking

I've been slacking off in this too. I hope to visit more blogs, and connect more via Facebook pages and Twitter. And just be like I was before 2013. Actively discussion on twitter with blogger buddies in endless conversations.

3. Design Aspect

Okay. I love my design. I love my purple! I always end up changing my design like 3 or 4 times a year. I'm happy with it this time, right now. I just want a header I can be happy with, so I'm going to be working on that. And also little small things, like creating different buttons and icons and customize my sidebar more. Oh, and fix my comment system!

4. Blog Tours/Interviews

This is a big one for me and a hard one. I hope to maybe include some more fun posts like interviews, different lists, certain recommendations and etc. Some fun stuff on my blog. Hopefully get some more time to plan that sort of thing out. Hopefully I can make that happen this year.
