She has tempted many men...but never found her equal. Until now.
Though she has lived for centuries, Anya, goddess of Anarchy, has never known pleasure. Until Lucien, the incarnation of death--a warrior eternally doomed to take souls to the hereafter. He draws her like no other. And Anya will risk anything to have him.
But when the merciless Lord of the Underworld is ordered by the gods to claim Anya herself, their uncontrollable attraction becomes an anguished pursuit. Now they must defeat the unconquerable forces that control them, before their thirst for one another demands a sacrifice of love beyond imagining...
I am really glad that I decided to give the Lords of the Underworld Series a second chance, because I didn't have a good experience with the second with the first book. So many things in THE DARKEST KISS were so much better and amazing! And such a great storyline. A big step-up from the previous book. I'm excited about that!
“Can I help you fight the Hunters? Please, please, please, can I?” “No. Be silent.”
We have Lucien, the Lord of Death and Anya, the Goddess of Anarchy. And I loved them together. They were a very refreshing couple. Lucien has scars and considers himself ugly and hasn't had a woman in thousands of years, would not alow himself to be with one and he has very low self-confidence. And Anya. Oh, man. She was quite a change for the heroine in any paranormal romance book I have read. The woman is crazy funny. She is very flirty, sexy and seductive towards Lucien. And I liked that, because the heroines are never like that.
“Like I’m going to obey you. You aren’t my daddy. Unless you want to be. ’Cause I’ve been a bad, naughty girl and I need a spanking.”
Lucien gets ordered to kill Anya by Cronus and if he doesn't he will make his brothers and loved ones suffer, so he is put in quite a spot, because he loves his brothers/friends, but Anya is the only woman who has made his heart beat like crazy in a thousand years. I loved Lucien and Anya. I loved Lucien unable to kill Anya and him making out with her instead and I loved their silly little arguments. THE DARKEST KISS was a great addition into the Lords of the Underworld Series.
I need to get back to this series. I listened to the prequel and the 1st book and wasn't blown away but like you I plan on giving it a 2nd chance but I think I'll wait until I'm up to date on Showalter's Alien Huntress series.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jennifer! I hated the first book. But I was told that they second is way better and same with the rest of the series. I wasn't completely blown away compared to Larissa Ione and Kresley Cole's Paranormal Romance books, but this second book was definitely a huge step up from the first in this series. =)))
